Helping on Kanaan

Have you finished school or university/college and don’t know what to do next? Or do you just need time out?

One volunteer writes:

“We are is a small international family of voluntary helpers at Kanaan. Our time here is interspersed with work and prayer, worship and Bible study, all intended to grow our personal and communal walk of faith. Meal times are good opportunities to share and get to know each other. We come from different backgrounds and cultures — which makes life interesting and exciting. No two days are alike.

Spiritual accompaniment during the stay on Kanaan is provided for the women by Sisters, and for the men by Brothers of the community.”

For young women between 18 and 35, there is a special summer program called “Kanaan Team” — click on the link here for details.

For the “Young at Heart” (35 years and older)

In your guest house, there is a kitchen where you can have breakfast and the evening meal (self-catering). Lunch is served in the house “Bethabara” for all guests.

Alongside the different areas of work, there is plenty of time for personal prayer and rest. Our spacious grounds — with the “Sea of Galilee” and the “Garden of Jesus’ Suffering”— offer beautiful and peaceful places to pause, an open invitation to spend time with Jesus.

Questions we are often asked

How much does it cost to stay with you?

As a non-profit ministry, we live by faith and and leave it up to our guests to decide if they would like to give a donation.

Can people come to you for a time of quiet?

Yes, you are welcome to come for a quiet day (please let us know in advance). If you would like to stay for a few days, please discuss this with a Brother or
Sister in advance. As a rule, a longer stay at Kanaan includes helping out at certain times in one of our work areas.
