You know what it is to pray. But that is not enough. You need to pray in faith, firmly trusting in God’s help. Put your faith into action. Do not just bring petitions.
 
Pray like this: ‘Thank You, Father, that You have already planned help for me. Thank You that You have a solution to my problem. Thank You that Jesus’ victory over my sin has already been won.’ There is a promise attached to such prayer. It moves the arm of God so that the difficulty must yield before His almighty power. Make use of this provision. Through thanksgiving you will become strong and full of joy. When your pleas to the heavenly Father are embedded in thanksgiving and faith, they will be heard. (see Matthew 21:22 & Philippians 4:6)

God is love! May this fact be sufficient for you. Do not try to understand God when His leadings seem to you unfathomable. Rather, humble yourself beneath them. Then you will become wise, and God’s heart will be opened for you. Through humble love you will be able to comprehend deeply the nature of His love, even if your human reasoning still fails to fathom His actions. Humble yourself beneath the powerful hand of God and you will find peace. You will rest in His will amid all His incomprehensible leadings.

The Father in His love has planned an abundant reward for all His children’s tears. He Himself wants to wipe away every tear from our eyes. Like the father of the prodigal, He wants to embrace us and shower us with love. After the troubles of this life He wants to give us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison. He will repay us without end for our sufferings. Full of joy, He will show us the harvest of our days on earth. As we keep our thoughts focused on such a glorious outcome, our greatest suffering will seem small to us.
(Revelation 21:4, 2 Corinthians 4:17)

It is often part of God’s strategy to wait until our problems have reached a climax. That is how God acted with the disciples when a storm blew up on the lake and they were in great distress. God could have calmed the first wave that arose. But then the disciples would never have known the power and glory of Jesus Christ. Bear this in mind when the waves around you become higher and higher. God purposely lets them rise so high: He wants to prove His glorious power, do miracles and glorify His name. Wait for Him to reveal His glory and wonder-working power in your situation of need, and you will experience the truth of this verse: ‘Did I not tell you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?’ (John 11:40)

Perhaps at this moment there are things in your life which you would like to wish away — difficult relationships or other unsolved problems causing you distress. Listen! All this is challenging you to use an opportunity you have neglected so far: Turn all your problems into prayer. There is no unanswered prayer. Persevere in prayer until help comes. It will come; indeed, God in His love has already planned how He will help. He is waiting for you to come to Him in prayer.
