Friday after Easter

Jesus Christ says, “I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.”
(cf. Rev.1:17-18 NIV)

What tremendous words from the lips of our risen Lord! He is risen indeed and is seated forever at the right hand of God the Father. Jesus – the First and the Last!
 
How different things looked, though, during His life on earth! Jesus certainly didn’t appear to be the victor, triumphant over all the powers of the enemy. His earthly path was marked by suffering and temptation. He had to face opposition, persecution and an excruciating death by crucifixion.

But Jesus’ death on the cross did not mean that Satan won. Calvary became, is now, and always will be the place of God’s victory, where Eternal Love triumphed over sin, death and hell.

 
We have a glorious hope,
a hope that cannot die:
Amidst defeat Christ’s kingdom
in triumph will arise.
Lord, You are Life eternal,
and that life cannot end.
Despite the devil’s raging,
it never can be quenched.

Thursday after Easter

Jesus Christ said: “You will be sad, but your sadness will turn into gladness!”
John 16:20 GNT
 
With Jesus, joy – not suffering – is the end of the story.
Jesus drew near to the grieving disciples
on their way from Jerusalem to Emmaus
and transformed their pain into love and joy.
(see Luke 24:13-32)
 
The same is true for us today: Jesus draws close to those who have buried their hopes and can no longer understand God in their darkest hour. He hears the sighing of their hearts and shares their sorrows.
 
He is also listening to your questions. The Emmaus story tells you: The One with the answer to all your questions is here. He is right beside you and wants to shed light upon your darkness, because He is love and takes your pain to heart. For you, too, He has a time of encounter, a time of answers, in store. This time will come!

“Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?”
But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
(1 Corinthians 15:54b, 55 & 57 NIV)
 
Jesus is risen! He is alive!
As the Prince of Victory He is standing before us –
but who believes this today?
Only a few.
Therefore let us praise Jesus all the more and sing triumphantly:
The devil lost his power and might;
The Lamb of God has won the fight.
To Him be all the glory!

I praise and worship You!
Your power to help is greater than any and every need.
Hallelujah!

Easter Day – Christ Is Risen!

What is the outcome of Jesus’ death? An empty grave – victory, resurrection and Easter joy. With God, suffering is never the final outcome! Easter is the assurance that suffering will not have the last word in our lives either. Jesus Christ is alive and victorious! All power is His in heaven and on earth. Jesus has overcome Satan and sin.
We honour Jesus with our response of faith, so join in the triumphant song of praise for His mighty victory at Easter:
 
Jesus Christ is risen today, Alleluia!
Our triumphant holy day, Alleluia!
Who did once upon the cross, Alleluia!
Suffer to redeem our loss. Alleluia!
