Do we protest and rebel against the will of God when suffering enters our lives? If so, our relationship with God is like that of a servant, who is indignant when he does not receive what he considers his due. But servants are not children; servants have no share in the inheritance. So stop behaving like a servant. It only makes you unhappy and displeases God. It will cost you your inheritance. Remember, through Jesus’ sacrificial death you are called to be a child — a child of the heavenly Father.

Do not conform yourselves to the standards of this world, but let God transform you inwardly by a complete change of your mind. Then you will be able to know the will of God — what is good and is pleasing to him and is perfect…Have the same concern for everyone. Do not be proud, but accept humble duties. Do not think of yourselves as wise. Romans 12:2,16 GNT

God loves the humble and insignificant, those who do not think much of themselves or seek prestige but are willing to be reproved and ignored. The Father draws near to them in His loving-kindness, bringing help and comfort. He bestows upon them His good gifts, for which they pray. So choose to walk in lowliness. Be humble in spirit and you will receive His gifts.
