God tore His beloved Son from His heart and delivered Him up to rebels and murderers. The sight of His Son’s affliction made the Father’s heart ache. Yet He bore this for us, because His love for us is so great. This being so, He should surely receive continual thanksgiving from His children, thanksgiving expressed in trust even when we cannot understand Him.

Childlike trust has power. If an earthly father finds it irresistible, how much more so the heavenly Father, who is the perfect example of fatherhood and whose very nature is love! And love is won over most quickly by childlike trust. So practise trusting.

God calls Himself your Father. He is waiting for you, His child, to love Him. The Father is looking for your love, for He delights in the love of His children. But you will be a joy to Him only in so far as you love God above all else. This means surrendering to Him everything your heart clings to, be it people or things, giving Him your all for love of Him. Then you will bring joy to the heart of God and, in loving God and being loved by Him, you will be richly blessed and happy.

God suffers as a Father, because so often people, including His own, ignore Him. All too frequently, when in need of help, the last one we turn to is the Lord. But whoever has not learnt to count on God and His very real help now in everyday life will not be able to do so in times of trouble either, when all human help fails. That person will see no way out. So it is important to learn to count on God’s help today.

Are you are troubled and anxious? You cannot solve your problems and difficulties by yourself. Your own restless thoughts and aspirations are making you weak and incompetent. They clog the channel of your heart through which God wants His help to flow. Leave everything to God. Let all your restless thoughts, worrying and frenetic planning come to rest. Rest in God and in His sovereign rule in the knowledge that He will act. Then you will discover that ‘in quietness and in trust shall be your strength’ (Isaiah 30:15). So choose this course and you will experience help.

Our worrying is a sign that we think we are important. We think that everything depends upon us alone. We think that we are the ones who have to take charge, sort things out and settle all difficulties. However, those who are dependent upon the heavenly Father as true children do not count on their own resources but on the Father’s wisdom and power. When we count on Him, our worries will cease.

Who will be strong and not faint with fear during times of great distress? — Those who have learnt to say lovingly in their hearts, ‘My Father, my dearest Father.’ Those who now live with a childlike trust in God the Father in everyday life, no matter what their needs, will become strong and experience His help when they call upon His name in times of great distress. Practise now going through life in this way with your heavenly Father, calling upon His name trustingly. His name will prove its power and bring you help even in the deepest night of suffering.

Jesus Christ says: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
 
Those who feel helpless, weak and small will not be lost in the storms of affliction and turmoil of war. The Father’s arms are strong enough to carry them. There is one thing He cannot do: He cannot let them fall into the abyss. So place yourself in the Father’s arms, and you will be securely held and hid. He will carry you through every storm.

Don’t store treasures for yourselves here on earth where moths and rust will destroy them and thieves can break in and steal them. But store your treasures in heaven where they cannot be destroyed by moths or rust and where thieves cannot break in and steal them. So I tell you, don’t worry about the food or drink you need to live, or about the clothes you need for your body. The people who don’t know God keep trying to get these things, and your Father in heaven knows you need them. You cannot add any time to your life by worrying about it. Seek first God’s kingdom and what God wants. Then all your other needs will be met as well. (from Matthew 6)
 
Those who let go of earthly securities in their lives, becoming entirely dependent upon God, will discover in times of hardship that they have done the right thing. God is the best insurance, His the only lasting security. His resources never fail. You can turn to Him at any time, in any situation, and He will take care of your needs. So let go of earthly securities.
