You know that God is your Father. However, it seems as though you no longer have access to Him. You think that your failings are too great in the sight of God and man. But God is challenging you simply to accept the fact that you have failed. Saying ‘Yes, I have failed’ is being honest. It is a sign of courage and humility. This ‘yes’ is the key that will unlock the Father’s heart. A stream of grace will be poured out on you. Admitting your failings will also open the door to the hearts of those whom you have wronged. What a gracious opportunity God is giving you!

In all eternity the love of God the Father can never be fathomed. He has been hurt and insulted by us. Our sins brought immeasurable pain and death to His only-begotten Son. What is God’s answer to our shameful conduct? God accepts us as His children through faith in Jesus Christ. He loves us tenderly and cares for us. He opens heaven for us so that we may one day enter into His glory.
And yet we dare to be ungrateful and proud. Unbelievably, we rebel against God time and again. We accuse Him when we do not understand His actions and leadings. We think that He is being hard on us. We should not be surprised, then, if our relationship with God is disrupted and we do not receive any help or comfort. God gives grace only to the humble (Psalm 96:1).

It is a deep grief to God the Father when He is forced to send judgment upon individuals and nations. However, He has to do so, because we often do not listen to His warnings and do not really want to be freed from our sins. If we could only see the fatherly sorrow of God, we would realize that we frequently bring our suffering upon ourselves because of our hardness of heart. Through repentance, however, we can restrain God’s hand. If we are under judgment now, God the Father is calling us to repent and change our ways. When we have a repentant heart, God in His love will turn judgment into grace.

Do you feel weak and incompetent? If so, rejoice in the assurance of the Lord that His grace is sufficient for you. In His grace is everything you need. The strength of God, His grace and help are displayed most effectively in the weak. So you are actually rich when you are poor in the way of abilities and talents — that is, if you boast with the apostle Paul of your weakness, trusting in God’s grace.

In all eternity the love of God the Father can never be fathomed. He has been hurt and insulted by us. Our sins brought immeasurable pain and death to His only-begotten Son.
