Whoever wants to know what a loving Father we have in God should picture, in spirit, the City of God. Prompted by His love for us, God has prepared a heavenly creation full of glory and perfect beauty to be the eternal dwelling-place of those who belong to Him. The Father wants to see His children happy. That is why He has prepared heaven, the City of God, for their eternal home. In days of suffering think of the love of the Father, which has prepared for you a heaven of perfect happiness and glory. Then all earthly suffering will lose its power to make you sad.

Would you like to know the heavenly Father? Our Lord Jesus Christ wants to lead you to Him. But He can only bring you to the Father if you follow the way He went as the Father’s only-begotten Son: the way of the cross. The path that Jesus trod was marked by poverty, lowliness, obedience and disgrace. To this day it is the path leading to the Father’s house, the City of God. Go this way, and you will come to know the Father and His love. He opens His heart to those who follow in Jesus’ steps.
