Whoever has lived apart from God, with no interest in doing His will, cannot suddenly say one day, ‘From now on I want to turn to the Father. Then everything will be all right.’ Good intentions will not get us anywhere. If I want to begin a new life of dependence upon the Father, I must first confess with all my heart, ‘Father, I have sinned.’ Then through the blood of His Son I will be granted forgiveness and my past sin will be blotted out. I will be cleansed through the blood of Jesus Christ, so that I will no longer live for myself but for God in joyful dependence, in fellowship with Him. Everything in my life will become new.
