Are you feeling depressed? Are you experiencing trials and temptations? Then the command ‘Rejoice always!’ is more relevant than ever. Joy needs to be practised, and God challenges us to do just that. He knows that depression and gloom make us weak, and He wants us to be strong. The joy of the Lord is our strength. So rejoice in the Lord by giving thanks for the fatherly love of God. If He cares for the birds of the air, how much more will He care for you!
Thank Him for loving you as His child and for forgiving you for the sake of Jesus’ suffering. Then joy will enter your heart — joy that can never be taken from you, because it comes from God, who is eternal. And so you will receive the strength to overcome. (1 Thessalonians 5:16; Nehemiah 8:10)
