Blessed are those who in the truest sense of the word have become children of God, children of the heavenly Father through Jesus Christ. They will be spared the anguish that comes from doubting whether the will of God is still love when He has to chasten us and be firm with us. True children of God are sure that, even when their heavenly Father disciplines them, He is motivated by love. They can sense His love in His grief, in the pain occasioned by their sinful behaviour and the need to discipline them. Allow yourself to be humbled, so that you become as small as a child. Then in every chastening you will rest in the Father’s will, and His discipline will have a beneficial effect on your life.
