A change of pace – a fresh encounter with God
Daily life in our small international family of volunteers is a balanced combination of work and prayer with times of worship and times for deepening our faith. Our varied cultural backgrounds add extra spice to our mealtimes together, giving a variety of opportunies for sharing with one another, exchanging thoughts, ideas and questions. Sisters offer spiritual support to young women volunteers, and the Brothers to young men.
In addition to helping in a variety of workplaces, plenty of time is available for personal prayer and devotions. The little land of Kanaan invites you to make use of this opportunity with its own “Lake of Galilee” and Garden of Jesus’ Sufferings. Volunteers live in a guesthouse where they are free to make their own breakfast and supper, according to individual needs. Lunch is served together within a larger family of guests.
“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.”(Philippians 2:3-4, NIV)

We make this rule our aim in the daily grind of our lives, dealing with problems which arise as soon as possible. Our time and our strength belong to God and must not be wasted because of things which hinder us in our living and working together. In all of our work, we want to focus on the most important thing:

Jesus,You shall be first in my life.
I want to talk with You and work for You.
I want to think over everything with You,
making all my decisions with You.

Nothing shall be done without You.
Bind me tightly to You,
So may I constantly live in Your holy presence:
for You are here!
